September 15, 2012 in Article

While The Village: Magazine of the Arts has extended to start covering arts and culture happenings beyond our borders in Bradenton, we still love talking about what is going on in our community. So over the course of the next two months, we’ll be putting out 3 pieces leading up to the November mayoral election here in Bradenton.

We asked all 3 candidates the same question, WHAT IS THE ROLE YOU SEE OF ART AND CULTURE IN BETTERING OUR COMMUNITY? This time, we have the response of Republican challenger, Marianne Barnebey: Read the rest of this entry →

Villagers in the news – This Week in Sarasota

July 8, 2012 in Article, Out Of Town

Over the past 6 months, the artists that live in the Village of the Arts have been making a concerted effort to reach out and teach Manatee County about this unique place. That effort is a two way street, and on the other side of it you have people like local writer Jessi Smith. Having covered more of my events than I can think of, Jessi has continued to cover several other people in the Village of the Arts. Read the rest of this entry →

Rants and Rambles of a 20-something: The Interview

May 29, 2012 in Article

That was it. The last four years of study, hopes and dreams dashed in one dismissive comment.  I arrived at this state of complacency via a craigslist ad, turned emailed screening and eventually a live interview.

I was in the middle of a law office, slightly sweaty in interview clothes (fashion that always defies Florida friendliness), fake pearls and a cheap smile. Read the rest of this entry →

May 8, 2012 in Artist Bio

I’m an artist and musician born and raised in Miami Florida. I enjoy making images that others can enjoy in turn driving me to create more and more. However, what really drives me to be a creative is being surrounded by others that have similar working minds. Creative thinking today is something that is necessary and prevalent in everyday life. Wether your a construction worker, an accountant, or just a regular urbanoid walking the streets of your neighborhood creativity strikes you wether you notice or not. The power of images is something to be honored with and it can be a dangerous tool. Like a hollywood film, images can grasp you and have you teetering on your feet and leave you breathless. Being around people that have this ability is something I marvel at. I am very grateful for being endowed with the gift of image making and take great pride in my development as an artist.

As a boy I always had the drive to create visual stories. From recreating cartoons, to drawing creatures. As I went through my life, art was a constant thing that I continued to peruse, at times I delved into the musical arts. I believe this helped me visualize things in a different manner than I would have if I went just through visual arts. Once after high school I tried various schools, and after a few tries I ended up spending a lot of my time living life. The events that I went through, both good and bad, have shaped my way of seeing life and this skewing in life sparked something in me. I continue to make visual art, but recently I have begun to come back into the musical arts. My art has been described as expressive, and grungy. I don’t hold back when telling the truth. From ink, to digital, to even oil painting my skills have reached a new level, but even with that I continue to search for a way to express an unease and uncomfortable feeling in my art.
